For Schools

The People’s Theatre Company works extensively in education taking shows to schools, running after school drama clubs, programming tailor made drama workshops, and providing PPA cover and free education packs.

As a not for profit organisation it is important to the PTC to be accessibly priced but our staffing standards are exacting. All PTC staff are trained, CRB checked and covered by Public Liability Insurance up to £5 million. In addition the PTC has a strict child protection policy which ensures that all staff comply with the legal and moral requirements of caring for the young and vulnerable.

If you would like a PTC show to visit your school please email us on quoting "Show" in the subject heading.

All our children’s productions are accompanied by free education packs which can be used by teachers in tandem with one of our shows or in isolation. You don't ever have to come and see a show to use them (although we'd love it if you did). All the education packs cover a comprehensive range of national curriculum subjects including PSHE and, of course, drama.

Since September 2005 all teachers at a school, including headteachers, with timetabled teaching commitments, whether permanent, fixed-term, temporary or part-time contracts, have had a contractual entitlement to guaranteed PPA time within the teaching day. During these important periods The PTC can provide qualified drama trainers to work with your students either on specialised drama activities or on core curriculum subjects.
